Hi, my e90 recently got totaled (a wheel came off another car and hit windshield/roof on the highway) and I'm looking to pick up a 2007 E60 with the M-package. I really like the looks of the M-Package as well as the sport suspension, steering wheel, etc. etc.

But what it lacks are door handle lights (LED puddle lights) which my E90 had.

Did the E60 come with that option? The car that I'm looking at has dakota leather and all the other premium options, but no puddle lights, so I'm not sure if the original owner just didn't choose the premium option or something.

And can you get the sport-package without the premium package? I wouldn't presume that they would make the sport seats with leather as well as the vinyl.

Thanks for everybody's help.

Not sure about the puddle lights. My 05 530i has the lights under the side-view mirrors which light up when the car is unlocked.

One question: why did you stop?

My '08 550 also has the lights under each side mirror. I don't ever recall hearing about door handle lights being and option on E60s.

As far as I know that was never an option on an E60. The side mirror lights are the only outside lights available. Maybe in the later model that is an option (F series).

Thats pretty funny!

Regarding the puddle lights, I am a bit confused how something like this would turn you off from a particular vehicle... of course maybe you are just inquiring and its not a breaking point with you buying an e60? I could have read the initial post wrong... most have the side-view mirror puddle lights including my '04 545. I dont think I have ever seen door handle lights in the e60's...

I'm not sure, but I think that joke went over my head haha but the accident was actually pretty bad. The roof and windshield actually collapsed on the driver's side and I ducked just in time to have them only tap me lightly on the head instead of coming down hard on me.

Luckily, it isn't a breaking point for me, but it would have been a bit of a disappointment I guess, since it was one of my favorite things about the e90.

But thanks for the replies and information, everybody! It's good to know that there are still exterior lights on the e60 even if they aren't under the door handles!

Don't have the car anymore but I swear my '08 550 had the door handle lights, called courtesy lights in the manual. Was part of the Ambient Light package, standard on the 550 and part of the Premium Pkg on other models as I recall. Did not have them on my '04 545 and it only may have started with LCI production which was model year 2008 here in the US.
