i went to see this 545 that I was interested in a few days ago, and did a systems check and half the components were yellow, meaning it needed service big time. I mentioned this to the sales guy and left. Today I returned and did a computer check on the car and everything was green as if it was reset an hour ago.
He blamed it on the battery, it was actually drained. Will a drained battery cause the system check to reset everything to green?
Or did he reset it so clients think the car doesn't need service?
Thanks

Drained battery has nothing to do with resetting of the maintenance items.
Somebody purposefully RESET to trick the prospective buyers in to thinking that the car doesn't need any service.
RESET [of those maintenance items] can be done by pressing the trip-odometer button and holding it and letting it go when you see the corresponding the service item and then press again.
RESET of those maintenance components should be done AFTER the corresponding service is done. If I were you, I would run from that car as I fast I can.

If you are in Toronto looking to buy a 545i, PM me and I will tell you a couple of places not to buy cars from.

+1 Unless the dealer can produce evidence that the services were performed after you first noted the Condition Based Service requirements. Even removing the battery won't cause those indicators to "reset"!
