I know a good psychiatrist, if you'd rather go down that path. Voices in your head can lead to nasty side effects.

He drives a Volvo, though, not an E61, so he can't help with placement of the piece.

Bruce, no idea what that is. Looked around for a bit in my car and didn't see it. The shape makes it look like it came from the contour of the glove box maybe where it meets the door? No idea bro.

Dd you ever match this piece with a home Bruce - even though this post was of course quite some time ago? I came across the same piece while removing various items from my dash over the weekend - luckily I saw where it fell from as not sure I'd have matched it otherwise

No infact this piece is still sitting on my desk since then and is a constant reminder to me to be careful when I work on the car. Help.

I'm still not sleeping well at night, anyone?

Bruce, I think I know what that is. Here is the best picture of it that I could find, (I was installing a back-up camera and video interface in a 2010 550i at the time ) I believe it is meant to protect some wires from the sharp thin metal bracket of the dash support. It either goes in the spot where my photo points out or it is meant to protect the airbag wires as they cross over the sharp metal bracket somewhere above the glove box. But don't loose any sleep over it. ( it could have fallen out of place when you ran the cables for your ACM unit a long time ago )

So does this mean that after close to three years, Bruce will finally be getting some sleep?

Pic posted was pretty close ...

Yellow circle shows the angle / edge it is trying to cover and prevent loom damage.

I need to get to that area again because I'm replacing my rear view camera with the Night Vision version. FINALLY I can put that piece back and go to bed.

I'm trying to retrofit footwell lights as included in the extended lights package. I've wired most things up except my -12V negative wires because I ran out of connectors. The job itself seems relatively straight forward but I do hope it works without needed a recode to the light module because I didn't take that option. At the moment I've just wired things up from the lights module as in the WDS. The parts are cheap and the process is extremely simple, will post instructions once I confirm that everything works OK.

All this first started with my Aux extension project http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=37190
At that time I found a part hanging which I cannot figure out http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=36699 so I simply taped it up inside to the main wiring harness.

However this time when I removed the trim piece from behind the glovebox in the passenger's footwell the part as pictured well off from somewhere. For the life of me I couldn't figure out from where. It looks like a rubberish material that clips on to the side of a trim piece. Although its a piece that doesn't need to be fitted but I guess it was put there to avoid rattles. Its shaped in a particular way and that too didnt provide any clues as to where it goes. Any ideas?
If your car hasn't missed it in all this time, I wouldn't worry about it. Think of all the extra power you just gained because of the weight reduction.
