I'm trying to retrofit footwell lights as included in the extended lights package. I've wired most things up except my -12V negative wires because I ran out of connectors. The job itself seems relatively straight forward but I do hope it works without needed a recode to the light module because I didn't take that option. At the moment I've just wired things up from the lights module as in the WDS. The parts are cheap and the process is extremely simple, will post instructions once I confirm that everything works OK.
All this first started with my Aux extension project http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=37190
At that time I found a part hanging which I cannot figure out http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=36699 so I simply taped it up inside to the main wiring harness.
However this time when I removed the trim piece from behind the glovebox in the passenger's footwell the part as pictured well off from somewhere. For the life of me I couldn't figure out from where. It looks like a rubberish material that clips on to the side of a trim piece. Although its a piece that doesn't need to be fitted but I guess it was put there to avoid rattles. Its shaped in a particular way and that too didnt provide any clues as to where it goes. Any ideas?

If not mistaken this piece goes on to the back end of the footwell trim between the two notches that hook onto the instrument panel carrier.
