Today I learned how they make the maple anthracite wood decor.

They actually have a guy driving around buying wooden logs and then they cut them open at Dr?xl to see if it is good. If it is, they cut it into incredibly thin pieces and brighten it. Then they color it black from behind and cover the whole thing in polyurethane and mount it on a carrier.

Pew.

Asa the title says really, does anyone know if the Alu Cube trim is real aluminium?

I have a company who can anodise the whole lot whatever colour I like for a decent price, but he asked if it is real aluminium and I am not sure, so anyone know??

Just out of interest for future reference, what is the company? is it in the UK?, how much do they charge for the job?

I have their details at home.

My car was with BMW tuesday/wednesday haveing voice fitted, and today it is in having a new windscreen fitted (stress fracture) but I am going to try and send him a sample for him to test before I got to Paris on Monday.

They charge a minimum of ?42+Vat and said he could do the whole lot for under ?200 he thinks, which is a great price I reckon. But depends if it is real Aluminium or not.

Brave man

If I were you I'd try to get a damaged trim piece of a dealer / ebay and get your guy to do a test.

Even if it is real aluminium there is a risk it'll look like crap when he's finished - if you have to change the lot you are going to be peeved.

Very cool idea though - unique

I will send him the bit near the drivers side vent. Cheap to buy another bit if it goes wrong then!
