I ordered Step but was wondering if someone has the manual without the sport. Also, do you get different wheels if you get the manual without the sport?

TIA

my 530 is manuel with sports.
i cannot drive anything other than stick. its just me.
sports pack meant firmer suspension and other cosmetic trimmings.
improves primarily on cornering and road holding.
*forgot to mention larger wheels 18", but this perhaps might be a US/ canada thing?

wheel variation comes with package (sp/ non sp) and model 530/545, does not matter if its auto/6sp/smg.

I' ve got the manual in my 530d.
What do you call sport? mine has BMW lowered sport suspension and the wheels are 245/45 in 17", but i'm in Portugal and maybe the equipment is different from there.

For MY2004, the US version of the 545i 6-speed included the sport package. I don't know about MY2005.

Not true. I had a 2004 530i non-sport manual (produced 08/03) before I traded it for 2004 545i sport manual.

By the way, I find the 545i's manual transm. better (smoother and tighter) than the 530i's I had. I'm not sure if they are the same or not.

ct530, same 6-speed manual transmission between the 545 and the 530. The 6-speed comes standard on the 530 in the US, the step and SMG are options. So, yes you can get a 530, 6-speed without sports package, and NO, you don't get anything other than the standard 530 wheels.

Actually, the 6-speed manual transmissions are different between 545i and 530i. The 5-series brochure lists different gear ratios between the two models - and, from my experience, they also do feel different. 525i and 530i, however, share the same manual transmission.

When I leased my 545, the dealership had 2 545 6 speeds without the sports package on the showroom floor. I thought this was a rather strange combination as most manual transmission drivers in this class of car are more interested in the sports side of the car instead of the luxury.

Are the 6-speed manuals really different. The only reason I ask is because I don't fully understand gear ratios and what that means to a transmission. The 525 and the 530 has the same numbers for gear ratio, but for the final drive ratio, the numbers are different. I hadn't read anything that indicated that the transmission for the 545 was different from the others, but I would like to understand better, so if anyone out there can help, please do.

ct, thanks for the correction!
