Today, while the board was a little slow, I did a search on the 2006 GS, and the look is growing on me. I like the interior, and I know that Lexus quality is top notch. The complaints on this board and others about the 5 don't scare me. But, I plan to keep the car for 8 years at least and hopefully more as long as it is in good condition. I will probably put 20k miles on a year, so I really need the "big ticket" items on this car to last. My last BMW was a CPO 318, and I reached 120k without any problems at all. The perception is that Lexus reliability is leaps and bounds above their German competitors, but when it comes to the engine and tranny, and other major components, I don't think that BMW falls too far behind if at all. My question is, what are the maximum amount of miles that you have ever put on a BMW or that you have known someone to put on a BMW without much "major" repair? I am planning on the 525, and for approximately the same price I may be able to get a GS430. I'm not too big on hp, but I can't ignore it either.
