does the 545i feel less powerful than you expected

The 545 IS powerfull AND fast.
But since it is so quiet inside and the ride is so comfortable, you don't have the feeling of going that fast or accelerating hard.
So speaking about the feeling you have when driving it, I agree. It doesn't feel as powerfull as you might expect it when you ordered it. But in fact it is - we just got used to it... IMHO

I've read that it's due to the new suspension technology that keeps the car from getting the jerky, dragster feeling. (DTS DSC blah, blah, blah) A co-worker of mine with an Audi S4 put it well when he drove my 545 as fast as the lenghth of the street would allow and exclaimed, "It belies it's size!".
