Does 535xi come with standard or runflat tires?

The standard 17" tires on the xi's are not runflats. As far as the tire brand, etc. I was told that it is "whatever is on the assembly line at the time". Sounds like it is a crap shoot as to what brand you get...

This is the most confusing thread I've read since I joined the board, because lots of people are contributing contradictory data. I have an 08 535xi built in September 07; it is NON-sport, and came with Goodyear Eagle RS-A 225/50R17 NON-run flats. There is a limited service spare. If anyone else has the same car, similar build, with run flats, then there is no consistency in the production, which does not make sense to me.

I was purposely trying to avoid low profile RFTs when I ordered my 535Xi, after an unsatisfactory expeience with my '06 330Xi.
I went by the information on the BMW web site which lists the standard wheels / tires as:
"17 x 7.5 Star Spoke (Style 243) cast alloy wheels, 225/50R-17 all-season tires"
For the optional 18" wheels / tires, the web site says:
"18" Light-alloy wheels Star Spoke (style124) with mixed run-flat perf. tires"
Since they explicitly state the 18" are RFTs, and make no mention of that for the 17", I assume my car (17" standard wheels / tires and Eagle RS-As) does not have RFTs.

I too have a 2008 535xi with Sports package and have Goodyear Eagle RS-A 225/50R17 NON-run flats. I specifically wanted non-run flats and hence did not order the option 18" wheel package which came with the run-flat tires.

I'm a bit late to the party here but it's true that the Eagle RS-A is not a runflat. Goodyear does make a runflat version of this tire but they call it the "Eagle RS-A EMT"

This does not appear to be correct. I just picked up the 08 5 series accessories brochure and it states All 2007 and 2008 5 Series Sedans and Sports Wagons come equipped with run-flat tires as standard equipment. See page 15.
