Because in a "sea of lights" a motorcycle is much harder to distinguish.
But I don't care about the source of the lights. I just think it is a safety tool to see on-coming traffic and be seen by on-coming trraffic as early as possible before closure.
I do find many 2-wheeler lights annoying by either bring on a high beam or aimed too high.
The whole idea is to be visible, but not blinding.

Carbon Black Metallic/Cream Beige
Manny tranny and other stuff
Recently gone, but never forgotten:
2005 Ford Mustang GT (hence the name)
Torch Red/Crimson
Manny tranny and every option available for that year
2002 Chrysler 300M Special
Brilliant Black/Light Taupe/Dark Slate
Autostick and goo-gobs of neat features that I will sorely miss

Both of you have valid points sixcard and GT, as with motorcycle riders there are different kinds of "cagers".
The ones driving alert and concentrated and the ones permanantly on cell phones having their heads and thoughts
everywhere but on the road.
I'm riding fast motorcycles and drive fast cars for 30+ years, I even did motorcycle racing for many years.
Even considering myself a defensive rider (at least on public roads) I where in many "oh sorry, I didn't see you"
situations which could have been avoided if the driver would have been focused on whats going on around them.
Well I'm drifting away from the topic of this thread, sorry.
I am not using my DRL's.

MC's must have the headlights all the time. It's nice to be seen!
The fact is that driving
- with your headlights on
- or using the new LCI (Life Circle Impulse) models Day Light Running mode on
IS SAFER.
Some said it only helps 10% of the drivers to see a head coming car in bright daylight,
but it might be your beloved granny or any other that do not have your 20/20 perfect sight...

Have always used DRLs since having my Volvo with lights on all the time. People do notice cars with lights on more than cars without, then they move over most of the time.
