In Scandinavia there's a law that all motor vehicles must have lights on all the time.

This is for safety reasons, a car with the lights on is spotted better by other motorists, even in the daytime.

So all you LCI E60/61 drivers - activate your running daylights from the iDrive and use the auto-light function!
how ?

1)audi in the usa lets you turn them off to save fuel due to the alternator not having a constant draw on it, willing to bet the same thing on the bmws, also as stated it saves from having to replace expensive bulbs all the time.
2)They have been alot of complaints filed with the DOT here by motorists that do not like the DTRL, and alot of complaints about HIDs too, being TOO bright for older people at night and basically blinding them...lol
1) agree, I turned my DRTL off- saves fuel, bulbs, money and helps environment.
2) to DOT: How about the bikes nuisance- noise, hearing, safety and noise pollution.

Mine is a 2005, the dealer must do it though and it will be your passing lights on , NOT your Angel Eyes! But it can be done!

I dot not use them.

Beeing also a motorcycle rider I think DTRL's should be exclusively for motorcycles.

Now I'm confused. I'm thinking about having a dealer turn off my DRLs, so that this...

...is what my car will look like in the daytime. (I recently had R1Racer help me install Predator ICE rings.)

But, after reading your post, I'm thinking that a DRL-off setting will not get me this result. Aarrghh. Confused...

(By the way, Long Beach BMW wants $135 to de-activate DRLs on my car. On principle, I think that price is outrageous. Does anyone know somewhere else in SoCal I can go for DRL de-activation for a more reason price of, say, $60 or $70?)

Why?
Because in a "sea of lights" a motorcycle is much harder to distinguish.
