Never! No stranger ever touches my car. Shoot even people I know arnt allowed to touch... 1.) I have to know you KNOW how to drive properly... (that plastic piece of plastic means nothing to me) 2.) You're not a manic and will respect others property... and 3.) I have to be in the car to watch you.
Valet! HA! Over my flat tire!

i will be the different one...... i do let people valet my car.... i also watch them park it... in some places where i know parking is horrible... ie. downtown disney.. or a big shopping center.. in feel safer that they park my car i for one know that they will at least park in a area where i know people wont come in and out and open their doors wide to ding.... its just a piece of mind for me... bcuz i worry and not enjoy... if my car is not atleast in a controlled environment.... eric d plus i tip bigg.... so they take extra car..

The last time I let a valet park my car ('97 528i) the jackass scraped the bumper while parking a big Lincoln next to it. I had previously avoided valet parking, but decided this one time I would stop being so anal about my car. The creep didn't even tell me about it until after I tipped him! The valet operator made good on repairing it, but I wasted time taking it to get it repaired and had to drive a Taurus for the day the bumper was getting repainted. Never again.

I agree with you. Those types of valets need to be slapped around a bit. However my BMW was built to be driven! I drive the shit out of it, but also take care of it very well. My rationalization is that nobody is going to drive the car as hard as I do. But again, THEY should especially respect your car..I would take it up with the head valet guy...

I heard in the news last week of a story of a carjacker somewhere in the U.S. who forced somebody to get out of her Camaro so he could carjack it -- but it was a manual transmission, and he couldn't drive stick. So he was totally stuck. Couldn't figure out how to make it go. While he was screwing around with it, the police came.
So our funny transmissions are anti-theft devices.

If I can avoid, I do not let others drive my car, including valets. I have a disabled placard because of a bad left hip from a motorcycle wreck about 35 years ago. So, usually I can avoid the valets and can park in a close protected space. If I can't do so, then I find an end spot and very carefully enter with my RHS close to the curb--hoping that whoever parks next to me does not have anyone on the passenger side if they park too close despite my efforts.

[/quote]I have been in a few places where use of a valet was required--but not in either my 545i or Z06.

I don't like it. But I am sure a lot of e60 owners here go to places with valet only.
