Scott 20k miles a year . Do you work far away or just like taking long drives in the E60?
I live and work in Manhattan and take the subway to work. All my driving is on the weekends. Victor and I love to drive. That's why I have the 550 amd not something more sedate.

I plan on driving m5 07 550 every day commuting 65 miles/day + weekends. When the winter hits, then it'll drop to around 200 miles/week I'd guess...but who knows? I buy cars to enjoy (on the road)...not for just special occasions.

Cars like ours were made to be driven. I love driving her and in the 2 yrs that I've owned her I put almost 40,000 That's why it deserves the title "The Ultimate Driving Machine"

I'm sorry but BMW's are meant to be driven NOT looked at especially the E60.
I really don't get it. Car's are depreciating assets yet all people seem to think about is resale value.
Who honestly gives a shit?! If really you do I would like to congratulate you.
You now have a car thats worth a few grand more than mines yet one you didn't enjoy nearly half as much.

Oh yea and to answer the OP's original question before I went on my rant I drive the car every single day EVERYWHERE!
To work, the gym, the mall, the hood, the city, the mountains, in the rain, in sleet, in snow and hurricane winds.
Average daily mileage when I was at my old job was about 60 miles. Currently its about 10 a day.

My baby girl gets driven everyday!

She will be 6 years old on 24 June and is just about to top 61K for mileage. When I bought her last year in January, she only had 37K on the odometer.

Drive it like you stole it!

I have to agree that I do not see a car as any sort of financial asset -- hence why I lease. I see a car as something to have fun in. If I wanted to get from point A to point B only, I'd have gotten something a lot cheaper and better on gas, such as an Accord. My 550, however, is all about having fun and enjoying the adrenaline rush that comes from the thrill of driving. That feeling is more valuable than anything of monetary value -- at least to me. To me, if you don't like to drive you car like you stole it (at least where it is safe to do so), there's no need to splurge on an E60, especially the newer and more expensive ones.

Use to drive 80 miles a day to and from work. Now, I drive about 45 miles a day with my new job. I currently have 57K. It is meant to be driven and I actually miss my hiway driving.
