I reset the service indicator for my cabin filters yesterday and washed my car. I noticed that when I was done with everything I got the error message that my left front tire was low. Today I took the car and got the pressure checked and the guy said everything was fine. He tried to talk about the temperature ranges we are having as possibly cause the sensor to give a false reading. Anyway the guy that checked the pressure said he reset the TPMS. So, I'm happy, go out to drive to work and guess what? You got it, left front tire low. Same message as before I went to the shop. So, I reset it myself and so far so good. The guys at the tire shop said if it continues to show a low tire I should that the car to a dealer and have them check the sensors. Sound right to anyone?
The only problem I had with my TPMS had to do with a "TPMS Malfunction" warning and it required the control module to be completely replaced and quite a few hours of software programming. Good thing I'm under warranty!
I wish you luck with your problem.

sensors, like any device, can fail
most sensors have a battery life of about 6-7 yrs...
doesnt mean they will go their whole life without hiccups
id suggest getting it replaced if, it continues to happen then its time to whip out the warranty card
also, and im sure u know, sensors can go off every now and then due to temp changes and usage of the vehicle and it could just be that and not really malfunctioning

I'm well past warranty and I doubt if CPO would cover them. Hopefully it was a fluke. If it happens again, it there an easy way to determine if it is the sensor itself as opposed to the receiving computer?
CPO will definitely cover this, as its part of the car's safety systems. I would consult your dealer with the issue and have it rectified.
urs, being an '05, most likely doesnt have tpms but rather ftm
which is similar but more basic and with less accuracy
a sure way of knowing if u have sensors or not is looking at ur valve stem... if its aluminum and not black plastic then u may have sensors
but that itsnt 100% true all the time
just go to ur idrive and under "service menu" look for "ftm"
if u see ftm then u do not have tpms
