My Ride: 545 modded the F out
Well, I disconnected my battery cuz I was messing with my Orions and my GF called me inside cuz she had finished cooking dinner. Well, I left the battery disconnected and CLOSED MY TRUNK!
I hadn't even realized it until a couple hours later and I was at a loss for words. I was like are you Effing kidding me? I really had no clue how to get back into the trunk cuz of my trunk finisher obviously was blocking the key hole. Stood there for a good 5 minutes and even tried to take my T.F. off but was unsuccessful. After a good hour or so I finished a mod I always had the intention of doing but never got around to and I cut my ski port open. LOL
I was able to use my bolt grabber to get a hold of the power wire and touch the battery disconnection from the back seat and THEN THERE WAS LIGHT
Man. I can't believe I never thought of that in the first place.
(and no, my car doesn't have rear fold down seats)
I need to get a Dremmel tool and some edge dressing now so I clean up the edges of the hole I cut. So much for saying "I never use the key hole to open the trunk anyways"

I have always warned people of this, especially those who put on a Finisher. I have always wondered why the M5 folks do. I can't imagine working in the UK with the boot open expecting it not to rain while I complete my mods.

That is seriously the worst feeling. I had my car battery die on me at a big shopping center. I could not open the trunk because of the finisher. I tried to rip open the finisher but that was a bad idea. I ended up having the car towed. The tow guy said sometimes after towing the car, they start working again. He drops the car off at my house, and I'm like hell I'll try to start, and what do you know, the car starts!! I pop the trunk and find the battery connections were ALL loose. It was stressful, apparently you can apply power to the terminals in the hood of the car which I wasn't aware of.

Happened to me.
Did the same thing.
Cut a hole and now there is a nice access point for the truck.
Also good for the sound of the subs to come into the car better.

I'm sure there were some stressful moments there, but I love reading threads like this. I appreciate you sharing your experience with the rest of us. I'll definitely keep this in mind when considering buying a trunk finisher... And this is another good reason to DIY Ski Access Mod.
Glad you got everything worked out!
