Do I need shocks/struts replaced
#1
So I have 55k miles on the clock and my car is 3.5 years old bought brand new with sports suspension. Now I am wondering if struts or shocks are something you just replace every Xxxx amount of miles or do you replace only when there is a obvious problem-such as noises, leaks, sitting low or high, too bouncy when you push down on the front or rear--I have none of those and I dont notice anything at all bad about the ride-still corners really well and has no bounce-but of course I dont necessarily remember how it was new as I got used to this slowly.
Can I just keep these until a spring a leak?
Most of my miles are highway miles, no tracking. Lots of heavy acceleration but minimal hard cornering

It all varies among our cars. Some folks here are fortunate enough to even have the struts last the lifetime of ownership, some switch them out because they spring a leak, and then there are some who change them out because they want the adjustability of aftermarket components and/or want a lower ride height. I opted to change mine out at about 68.5k miles when the driver-side strut started to exhibit excessive bounding behavior where it would rub the fender liner. The strut wasn't leaking or anything but I could easily push down on front of the car which you should not able to do with a healthy set of struts.
There are lots of options as you probably know for replacing the suspension. I went with the most bang for the buck solution and went with KSport Control Pro coilovers. There are tons of reviews on the forum now so decide for yourself.
Good luck.
