do I need to change the battery in the key?

dose any 1 know if we need to change the battery in our keys.
My has been used for over 4 years now.

Does it need changing? If it still works, I would say no But AFAIK the FOB's do have the option of a battery change....

No need to change any battery unless you have comfort access.

Except for comfort access cars, the key recharges itself when it's in the ignition (or slot). It's a good idea to put your spare key in the slot or otherwise use it every so often to keep it charged up...

That is pretty cool, but rechargeable batteries will also go bad "some day".

+1 good rechargeable batteries only last a few years if used every day, like mobile phones.
so will they rechargeable batteries die in the BMW key
