I just swapped my winter tires and wheels for my original runflats. I had the front end aligned and all wheels balanced. When I picked up my 545 I was amazed at the noise. I thought that they did something wrong. The service advisor went for a test drive with me and said that it was tire noise. The runflats make my beloved 545 sound like a muffled truck going down the road. I am done with the noisy run flats. How do the Eagle F1 GS-D3's hold up over time? How do they sound at 15k miles?

I am loving my ride with the Eagle F1 GS-D3, so far put in only 1000 miles but it is night and day for me after the runflats. Hoping to get close to 20K from them

I also have the Eagle F1's. Only switched a few weeks back, but my early impression is that they are outstanding and I highly recommend them.

I don't want to swear to this, but I think the Michelin PS2s outlive the Eagles and may be quieter in the process. Check with some of the online tire stores and check for wear rating in excess of 200. Discount Tire Direct and Tire Rack come to mind. There seems to be a consensus here for the Michelins, but that could be our Euro bias....lol

The Eagles should be pretty good in this respect, they have a 280 wear rating compared to 220 on the PS2s.

Indeed, a rating of 100 = 30,000miles! So you'd expect the Eagles to last 84k miles?

Same logic applies to all tires of course Would mean that the PS2's should be good for about 70K as well!!

I had Eagle F1's and now have conti sport contacts on the back (after a puncture) - I much prefer the conti's - better grip, refinement and appearence.

In any event - anything will be better than runflats.

FYI, those "contolled conditions" and tire wear numbers are assessed and assigned by the MANUFACTURERS. Caveat emptor; but at least it's a starting point.

I thought one of the tire houses did noise studies too; check some of the background info on Tire Rack for road noise.
