discontinued engines

hi guyz,

i am new to the forum and thanks to the folks here i just found out my 2004 525i engine is no longer in production, why does bmw discontinue engines and what does mean in terms of service going fwd?

Most of the engine parts will still available from the factory. I think the parts will last for 10, 20 years from discontinuation.
