Feel like I've wasted my money on this option. Really, there is not much of a difference from my standard sound system on my ex-e60 (pre-LCI). Wonder what the hype is all about.
Or maybe I'm deaf. At least thats what my wife thinks. (Selective deafness for her!)

It depends what you are listening to. L7 is a digital system, hence it converts analog signal from radio or iPod back to digital, processes it and converts back to analog. All those conversions reduce sound quality. Sure, someone thinking that 128 kbps stuff from iTunes of 96KBps stuff from Sat radio or HD sounds great will be happy with L7. If you have high quality system at home, no way you'll be happy. To me L7 sounds just acceptable so I don't feel urge to get car to an audio shop for an upgrade.
Correct test of audio system is to switch L7 off, make sure EQ is flat. If it sounds good - it is a good, properly set up system. If it requires DSP, EQ, whatever - it is not designed ot set up properly.

FYI, Mark Levinson is owned Harmon. So is Lexicon. and it is my understanding that Lexicon developed the L7 system for BMW. They all share engineering information to develop all of their audio equipment, whether it be for home or car. http://www.harman.com/what_we_do/market.as...amp;type=brands

I really like mine with HD radio. There is a big difference in sound quality between regular and hd that I can hear. Also try changing your surround sound settings a little. I noticed a big difference in the quality after doing this.
