Disappearing FM radio reception (UK)

My Ride: E61 530d Touring, May 2004
My FM radio reception seems to be getting worse and worseon UK roads. Reasonably good in major cities, it was always a bit ropey in remoter parts of the country (eg through Cumbria on the M6). But now seems to lose signal very easily, such that a an M6/M5 journey is radio-less for perhaps 50% of the distance.
Any ideas ? Don't want to spend another fortune with the dealer to no avail (eg the ?200 to confirm the heated rear window doesn't work but not fix it - that would be a lot more)

Did you ever work this one out? Fortunately mines under BMW warranty but having fitted a new Diversity?? unit and a new CCC (I think) unit, they're no closer to working out why my radio reception suddenly disappeared last week.

how is the range on your remote key? If that too is not very good then I think you need a new diversity amp.

The range was ok, not great but ok. My car had a new rear screen when I bought it, radio reception was fine for 11 months and then disappeared. My local dealer has fitted a new diversity unit under warranty and also (I think)a new CCC unit. Neither has cured the radio reception though they did report that the diversity unit was water logged so there at least is one potential issue addressed.
