Also the power output of some motors may be different (lower) in the US compared to the same engines in Europe (certainly used to be the case)
There's really no difference. The quoted specs may differ a little, but that arises through different measurement scales (e.g. SAE gross hp or SAE net hp vs DIN ps).

Both engine management and suspension is different from the European version so I would not advise you to import an US car. It may be difficult to get it served properly in the future. And with so many new, newish and used E60's around in Europe, I have to ask the question:... Why do it?

Hi all,

I 'm from Europe, and want to buy some re-imported E60 from United States. Do anybody can help me? - What is different between US-market and Euro-market E60 models 525, 530, 525xi and 530xi? Lights, dashbord (destination in Miles, temperature in F, fuel in gallons) something else?

Sorry for bad english

Andrei

Yes - the steering wheels are on the left side where they belong!!!

True, but then include depreciation and maybe a higher service cost as parts must be ordered specially for this car. Still cheaper...?

the M-sport wheel is also thicker than the sport steering wheel. so its got a much nicer and sportier feel to it.
Are you sure this is true, on 2008? I think the difference in radial diameter may be with the heated steering wheel versus without? I have the 550i with Sport package and heated wheel; I wouldn't want the wheel any thicker, for sure.

BIG MISTAKE.
The euro models have better mpg(with diesel/petrol), better choice of engines and HP, Better options, packages, features, off market mods. and accessories.

Hmm. Digging a bit further, it appears the US 550 has the M-Sport wheel, with the sport trim piece. See the attached photos.

The first is the sport wheel, which does not have the hand grip bumps above the spokes. My 550 wheel has those, as does the M-Sport wheel in the second picture.

Where did you dig up the diagrams? do you have a link to current parts diagrams for 08's? I'm wondering which wheel my 550i will come with..?
I'm picking up my 550i Carbon black/w/Natural interior sport package, heated steering wheel, etc etc...the end of the month..Any clue?

There should be no problem getting it serviced.

My 535i was serviced by the Niederlassung in Stuttgart with no problems whatsoever....and the 535i is only sold in the U.S.

Getting past the import tariffs and conversions is going to be the hurdle.
