I saw an 07 plate today and his AE's were really bright. like proper noticable in my rear view mirror. He come up the side of me and we was stopped in traffic. I noticed that the angel ring it self seemed to be on the outside of the group of lights inside the whole unit.. if that makes any sence.. they were as bright as 3 series AE's are.. Is this the difference in LCI and non LCI... anyone got a picture of there LCI lights to compair with

Difference for headlights:

2004-2007:

LED Angel Eye
Corner lap is not clear.
Eyebrow is different.

2008 LCI:
Angel eye is H8 bulb. Also brighter!
Corner is now clear with lines over it.
Eyebrow is slightly different
Angel eyes fade in and out when turning car on or off with alarm.

I think that's it.. Please correct me if there is more.

LCI has the new cornering light feature as well.

BenAnd has done it the BMW OEM way so I doubt if his DIY will help.

Hi All

As I have said in another thread about the topic, it is difficult to give a clear explanation (DIY), as it is vintage specific, even a single difference in production months be key to how an upgrade / upgrade must be reflected.

As also mentioned earlier in this thread, there are also differences in LCI headlights if they are with or without turn-light, and this in turn has implications for how the task must be approached.
So before you begin, be sure to know what kind of headlights you have , so you can buy / obtain the correct just like you must know what the production date your car have , the date is crucial to how the wires must be swapped around.

If you have AHL and mount the new LCI headlights ( also with AHL ) you should be aware that it would also involve changing ALC boxes, and a recodning of these will be required, this coding usually must be reflected in an authorized BMW shop (you can not do this yourself ), so all in all, it is not a task you should embark on unless you have some mechanical and electrical skills , and access to varius information sources such as BMW 's WDS and ETK

I have in another thread on this forum tried to describe the present work from pre. xenon headlamps with AHL to LCI headlights with AHL, read this because I think it will explain it very adequate, just like in this thread there is a PDF file with description of the wiring work when changing to LCI headlights , on cars after 03/05 , but most of it is the same for cars between 07/03 up to 03/05.

Good luck to all that go on with this "upgrade"

Best Regards
BenAnd
