As for leather, you have normal leather seats, then "comfort seats"....the latter is well, more comfortable and has more settings.

So its the same leather however the comfort seats just have more settings?? my buddy said somthing about leatherette?

These are two different things here. There is leatherette and then there is Dakota Leather (more premium leather). You can get either one in the 'comfort seats'.

GL with the buy. Get the one you have most of your favorite options. You won't regret either one.

I too am a first time BMW buyer researching on which model to get.

I am looking to spend between $20k-$25k.

As I'm looking around on the AutoTrader I see I can get a 2004 545i or a 2006 530i.
Both will be similar in mileage.....between 35k and 45k.

Is it worth losing two years of time for the greater engine specs? Or go two years newer but lose the engine power.

I am living in south Florida so everything is nothing but more than a 10-15 minute drive so I am not worried about the gas mileage either produces.

Both are CPO from my local BMW dealer and do come with warranty.

THANKS!
-Jordan

Go for the 545.

There's no substitute for power.

There are some other costly differences between the 530 and 545, aside from the engine. The following are standard features of every 545/550 - combined, they are options that would have added thousands to the original cost of the other models.

Premium Package - ZPP
Parking Distance Control (PDC) - 508
Xenon Headlights - 522
Antracite Maple Trim - 435*

* The Antracite trim could have been specified for the 545i when ordered, without additional charge. Why more folks didn't take advantage is a mystery to me.

So, the 545i would give you the Premium Package, PDC, Xenon Headlights, possibly Anthracite trim, and a V8

First of all - Welcome to the forum.

I have a 2005 530 and the only difference I can tell is gas mileage - I get 30 mpg on the highway (22.6 in mixed driving) which is the reason I got the car. Living in SoCal gas is not cheap so why not get a 5 series with Accord mileage?

P.S. I would definitely suggest looking for Prem pkg, Sport pkg, and NAV - definitely worth it (can you tell I love my car?)
I get 21.3 mpg combined in my 545 and use the V8 power every day. Big difference between the 530 and 545/550 in power but not so much in mpg it seems.

530 is an awesome sports sedan with decent acceleration.

545/550 is a rocket

And the sport package is almost a must in a 5 er. Makes the car a real sport sedan.

There is leather and leatherette as said above. Then there is the comfort seating. Leather comes with the premium package, leatherette is standard equipment (offensive in a 5). I would really like to have the comfort seats, being tall.
I am happy with my 530, adequate power and zip for a big car, but not a monster. Gas mileage is surprisingly good for a car almost 2 tons, i am in the high 20's to low 30's on the highway. The 545 I would guess is measurably less per gallon. Overall, my 530 is a really good performer.

I just bought a 2004 545i about a month ago, and I could not be happier.

Seriously, spring for the 545/550 you will not be disappointed.
