22,000 miles and the original rears could do with changing pretty soon I think.

 

My dunlops DSST's have just hit the tread marker after 8200 miles!, my rear pads are also wearing quicker that the fronts, only 4900 left to a change.

I'll admit to sliding it around a bit, and making the DTC work in the wet, but on my last 320d I managed 15,000 out of P6000's driving the same.

I very disappointed, the dunlops I have appear to be very soft, even the fronts are over half worn, on the flip side the grip is far better than the 320.

I think I will be looking for non runflats with a harder compound in the next few weeks. , www.mytyres.co.uk always have good deals.

 

On a dry road I get the DTC light come on in 3rd gear (as well as 1st & 2nd gear), 3000 RPM and full throttle. Will even do it in 4th if there's a few small bumps or the road is damp.

BTW, BMW's traction control is the best I have ever driven. The car would be utterly undriveable without traction control. The torque of the diesel, combined with only 245 rubber, would need considerable restraint without DTC.

 

The loaner 750i I had had the figures for the (not available in the UK) V8 4.0 diesel and it is conservatively rated at 700 Nm torque WOW!!!!!...makes our 500Nm seem low !!


Now why not make an M3 diesel with the V8 4.0....that would be a hoot....(probably need to be 4 wheel drive or everytime you accelerated the dash would light up like a christmas tree !)
