diesel owners..this will scare you

with the engine running, and your bonnet up, listen to your engine...its quite quiet for a diesel is'nt it.

now with the engine still running, just open (twist off) the oil filler cap for a second....it sounds like a bag of nails in there?
i didnt realise they were that loud/under that much presure in there.
if you only do it for a second there is no chance of damage, but diesel engines do rely on presure for function, in fact most audi's if you do this, they stall or get very lumpy.

I hear my small diesel engine knocking as cold and in speeds under 30 km/h.

But that's it, not even the turbo whistle.

i have huge "turbo whistle" from my 535d, but not so from the 530d.
it sounds like darth vader.

(ps: look up death star canteen, on you tube for a great laugh)
