I read an article stating that BMW, Audi, Merc were all going to be starting to sell their Diesel variants in the US soon, I cannot find the article but I will keep searching. You guys will will love the torque in these cars, they give the same feeling that you get from some of the larger engined cars but without the high fuel consumption.

I've also heard the X5d is popular. I saw one and heard it the other day. It was nice and quiet compared to older diesels.

Seriously guys, take one for a drive. You will be surprised how quick it will feels, my 525d only sounds like a diesel when it is ticking over though to be fair it doesnt sound like a truck. Flat out it sounds like a petrol\gas car.

In fact, please drive one. I cant wait to read the feedback.

Not a bimmer, but my buddy recently test drove the new ML 350 diesel and he was pretty much sold. I think he said something like 395ft/lbs of tq and 210 hp, but obviously its all tq. I would love to test drive one.

Saw a 335D at the dealer a while back, like 2 months ago. I hear it has great reviews.
