Did all 545's with sport package and 124's come with runflats? I have a line on a used set of with OEM Dunlop SP sport 01 DSST. Seller does not know if these are run flats.

I see tire rack carries both regular and run flat , so that did not help. I have asked the seller to take a pick of the sidewall. Are there any special markings that would confirm these are runflat?

how bad are run flats. I am thinking this is a good deal and how bad could it really be for one summer? My car came with 17" 116's with all season continentals, so surely the 18" sport would be better than those.

As usual, thanks in advance for any help.

cheers,

I think bmw oem they do comes with RF.
RF are not bad, not they are not as smooth and comfy ride as non-RF, I'd prefer non-RF.

there's a way to know if its RF or not. i think its a theres RFT in a circle on the tires.

DSST stands for Dunlop Self-Supporting Technology, which is their name for run flat.

My 545i Sport with 124s has Dunlop DSST which are run flat tires. Going to switch to a non run flat tire when these wear out.

thanks BrianTx5, I found that this morning on the Tire Rack website....also, the reviews were less than good!

Should I just stay clear of the DSST's and swap them out before I put the new rims on my car?

If they have tread left, there's no reason not to mount them and get your money's worth. If they aren't currently on the wheels, then no, I wouldn't buy them.

With that said, I enjoy the peace of mind that comes with run-flats, so I'll tolerate the ride. My other car has 20's on it though, so I'm already used to a "harsh" ride.

JM$.02, YMMV.

I replaced my runflats with only 5k on the clock. Best move I ever made. Much smoother ride and seems to handle better on turns. Good luck
