OK, I will take issue with this. I've used RainX on my last 3 cars (including the Bimmer), and I have never experienced any of the problems you cite. No "gumming up" the windshield, no problems with wipers (in my experience the blades glide very smoothly with RainX, in contrast to the chattering they do without), and it immeasurably improves night vision in rainy conditions.

Sorry if you don't like the stuff, but I think RainX is the best automotive product I've ever used.

Try not using it for a little while, and see if you like it then.

The problem with Rain X is.... once you have used it once, you have to keep applying it... or else face the issues I listed before. If you decide you don't want it anymore, then you're out of luck.... unless you get a new windshield, perhaps.

Anyone hear or have any experiece with this stuff? A lot of us have been complaining about the softness of the E60s windshield and how it gets easily chipped and pitted by the little rocks on the road that gets kicked up. If this stuff really is what they claim it is it's got my attention...

There are videos in each of the link that talk a little bit more about the product.

Dont write this stuff off yet, my friend just put it on his E60 M5 at the dealership and he swears by it. I thought it was crap until we were doing 120mph and a rock flew up and hit his windshield. I thought for sure he had a chip but it was smooth with only a dirt smudge left behind as the rock exploded. The noise from the impact was like a gun hit the windshield but it turned out there was no damage from the rock at all. I am going to put it on my 997 911 and 550. He could not remember how much he paid for it since it was a packet deal with the perma bond coating.

Thats exactlly why i want it! I lost 2 windshields to rocks already on my MINI. Those two windshields prob cost me more in time and money than this stuff will... and I dont like how the E60 windshield is starting to get all pitted up by all the rocks that get kicked up by the cars on the horrid 710 freeway I drive on.
