I'm thinking to buy a diagnostic cable to register the battery and do my own diagnosis. However, other than the link tgm001 provided: http://www.euautohaus.com/product.php?id_product=22,
I also saw those: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-INPA-K-C...#ht_2409wt_993
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-USB-OBD-...item4cf9b475a7
What are the differences?
Thanks, guys.

The cable on your ebay link is the same as euautohaus sell, the main difference is that the one on ebay comes with cheapest version of diagnostic software, for exemple the softwares can miss some files in it, or problem during the install, etc,
If you go on bmwcoding.com, you'll fing a bunch of thread's discussing on this subject !
Some had bought this ebay cable, and downloaded via torrent the diagnostic software, but I don't think it's a good idea, cuz you never know with torrent, sometimes a file can missing and then because of that you burn your ecu!!

I have the silver cable from ebay and it works just fine. I would recommend the whole setup with the software. For the amount of time if took me to set it up its worth the extra 100 bucks to get all the software.

AchtungE60,
I have a 2006 530i(N52). I already own a Bavarian Code Reader/Resetter(reads OBD-II and BMW proprietary codes). Can you recommend a reliable package and a link on where to buy it? Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but is there such a tool that would show video of how the engine is running(timing, misfire, etc...)?
Thank you in advance and for the many good inputs that you have shared.

+1 OMG dont remind me 3 cables one DME and too much $$ later I finally got it right. I should have thought about it. i have several beamers and these are everything but nice cars so WHAT was I thinking trying to save a few $ ... especially if I had to take it to the $stealer who would have raped me. I used to keep a jar of vaseline in the trunk in case I had to make a trip to the $tealer but now that's over. Anyway my suggestions are to just do it right the first time and go with a dependable setup. The cable is actually different. Of course I've broken my warranty but the others were chinese and the euauthaus one was a different chipboard. I remember a member here I think it was BLOOD who had 3 cables and also dissected them. COMPLETELY DIFFERENT

Sure this one will work perfectly. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-Progman-...t_16690wt_1185
It doesn't show a VIDEO but does show the actual real time values.

I just registered my battery (2007 530Xi) with INPA-Ediabas and used the cable recommended by BMW coding. Cable and software from Autoenginuity was unable to register battery although it was able to read many other dianostic sensors.
