Its always a sad site to see a bmw on a tow truck , except this morning right outside my office the sreets were being swpet and some lawyer from the law office across the street decided to ignore the no parking sign that he parked beside and had his car towed away so they could sweept he streets (serves him right ).

But he did update his signature to prove he knows to press on the brake pedal before starting...

It would have been a few days because they had to order the part, and then some cable. Mine was in there as well for some random little bump in the steering at low speeds, so i had to wait for some gear that was messed up. so hopefully they have it in. if not prob. looking at 2 to 3 days.

So sad a car has to be towed for such a minor thing. I don't see why they even need that if the car is in "P"ark anyway. Depressing the brake pedal offers no safety value I can think of if it's in Park. There should be a backup for this very situation, like for example, putting the parking brake on (which the iDrive can detect because it will gong at you if you try and drive away with it on).

Has there ever been an attempt at compiling a list of things we think are bugs in the E60 and sending it to BMW in the hope of getting them fixed in the next software update? This would certainly be one - having to have a car towed just because of a failure of the system to detect the brake pedal being pressed when it's not even the most important safety check (which is of course that it's not in gear).
