Dension 500 help please
Hi Guys,
Really need some clarity or help with defining the wiring set up in my 2005 e60. I dont have sat nav nor do i have a cd changer, just the single slot cd player with idrive. I have purchased a Dension 500 and have been reading through all the excellent DiY topics etc. I am led to believe that my car is pre-wired for the cd changer and have had a look for the wiring behind the fusebox. From reading through there should be a connector with the power supply and fibre optics that i need to seperate. My car has the connector, inside the connector is only the power supply. I have found a single black connector also with the fibre optics going in one side of the connector and out the other side. So my question is this to anyone that understands what ive said above, should my power supply and fibre optics of been in the one connector and do i now have a problem because they are seperate? and how should i now wire the dension into this? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Daz

You will use the power wires to connect to the Dension power connector. Then, you will need to separate the optical connector, determine in and out, then connect those to the proper ports on the Dension. Your Dension kit should come with the necessary optical connectors and cable.
Don't forget that you need to code the car to recognize the Dension as the CD. That's a entirely different project.

Before you go on separating the fibre cable you might NOT need to.
I had a plug and play fibre connector sitting on top of my glovebox which you need to take out to check. That plugs right into the dension with 0 modifications so I didn't need to split any fibre cables.
