You would be surprised. Get married, have a couple of kids, but a house they all fit in, food, clothing. medical, try to put some money away for college, etc., etc., etc. $200K, $300K, $400 does not go nearly as far as you might think, especially with housing costs in and around some of the larger cities.

I'm bored waiting for my 550, so I've been digging through some proprietary market research about car buyers.

Here's some info on the typical MY 2005 545 buyer (U.S.):

male? ? - male48 years old -40
married - married$203,000 average annual household income -beat
One-third of buyers have an Advanced Degree- PhD
5'10" -6'0
180 pounds - 200 lbs

One-third of 545s are purchased / the other two-thirds leased -bought
Average price paid for purcahsed 545 $61,500 - 6200085% have Steptronic - 6-speed

One-third of 545 owners had another 5 series just before this car -noAnother one-quarter had another type of BMW just before this car. -yes
The cars we otherwise were closest to buying were the MB E-Class and the Audi A6. -no
The #1 reason for buying a 545 is Performance.? What we like best about the 545 is the way it accelerates and handles, and we like how it stands out. -um of course

I'll see your upenn degree and mba, and raise you a princeton undergrad and a cornell mba. Jusk kidding, a little ivyleague rivalry. I would say I fit the profile well, except for the age, if I actually owned that car, but maybe some day when I quit working for the man at a hospital and start my own. Right now I only got the 525 (tear).

Wharton(UPENN) > Princeton lol

haha yeah, we really don't have an equivalent to Wharton, all we have is th M.Finc., but I hear that is pretty hard core. I was ORF major, and I didn't even get the math I saw some of the masters Finance boys doing. I'm debating doing a post graduate diploma from Harvard's extension school in computer science, however I'm torn about selling out my alma mater is such a blatent, disgusting manner.

I guess since I don't fit the 545 profile I'll have to make do with my 6er. This sounds like Lake Wobegon, where ALL the forum members are above average.
