i've got a 2007 e60 and my passenger occupancy sensor has been broken for some time which causes the seatbelt chime to ring even when there is no passenger. recently i found out about a recall but when i called BMWNA they stated my VIN # wasn't a part of the recall.![Angry](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/angry.gif)
dealer wants $800 to repair but i did find an emulator on ebay for $60. has anyone installed one before? i cannot seem to find the DIY anywhere.
thanks in advance guys.

I wouldn't accept that response. Any way to escalate it? I have an '07 530xi and I had my sensor replaced under the recall.

They probably replaced yours because you have sport seats judging by your sig. If you have those doesnt matter what model your good. Had my car not had the sport package I would have been SOL.

The $800 was the actual mat sensor replacement. BMW NA did say that if I took it into the dealer and got a diagnoses and it was in fact defective they would replace it. However, if they deemed it was not one of the defective ones, I'm out my $150 which was the cost of diagnosing. Kind of a slippery slope.

I have sport pkg so it's not that. They ran the vin and said it wasn't part of the recall. No explanation other than that was given.
I'll try that app. Thanks for suggestion

That I dont know didnt ask to many questions once they said I was good. I doubt it just involved sports package only but when I had the issue they told me my car was covered specifically because it had sport seats. If I would have had anything else they would not have done it. Might pertain to my year or something you know how these things go.
Damn, that sucks. What HF suggested is you're best bet. You'll know before you take it just in case they try and be dishonest and tell you "ooh thats not your issue, its xyz".... Good luck bro, I know the feeling of thinking you may have to shell out the cash for this repair when you know people are getting it fixed for FREE.

I bet it has something to do with it being a different part. the SBE mat on the sports seat is attached to the cusion ~ $160.00 and non sport it's attached to the upholstry ~ $500.00.
