December 5 Series sales showed a nice ?jump? as they were up 16.6% when compared to last December. YTD sales of the 5 Series for all of 2006 were up 7.7% compared to all of 2005.

By way of comparison, sales of the Mercedes-Benz E Class were up 12.3% with sales of 7,116 units this month and 6,334 units last December. YTD sales of the MB E Class were down a mere 0.4% for all of 2006.

Sales of the BMW 5 Series and the MB E Class were fairly close for both December and all of 2006 as the 5 Series ended up 2006 only 6,561 sales ahead of the E Class.

Please note that I report only United States sales data.

Jump? How about a Michael Jordan-like jump? Dec 2006 was the biggest sales month ever for the E60 - by more than 1,000 units! And Nov 06 was the 3rd-best month ever. The E60 is on a roll, baby.

56,756 units this year. Sick. That's more than:

Cadillac CTS
Lexus IS Series
Volkswagen Passat
MB E-Class
Audi A4
MINI Cooper
Infiniti M Series
Volvo V70
Audi A6

The old E39 typically sold only about 40,000 units every year in the U.S.

Great figures, even if the facelify is coming.

Seems that not all E60 funs read the Forum

But of this list...

Cadillac CTS
Lexus IS Series
Volkswagen Passat
MB E-Class
Audi A4
MINI Cooper
Infiniti M Series
Volvo V70
Audi A6

...only the MB E-series and Audi A6 are competition to the E60.

Good point. Here's the 2006 sales figures (U.S.) for several E60 competitors:

BMW E60 56,756
MB E class 50,195
Lexus GS 27,390
Infiniti M 25,658
Audi A6 16,216
Acura RL 11,501
Jaguar S 5,875
Volvo S80 5,469

The Infiniti G35 sold 60,741 units, but I think it competes with the BMW 3 series, which sold 120,180.
