I had to replace 2 rear rims on my 545i... 124's... notorious I hear for cracking.

My E92's style 185 were all bent and cracked after one winter. If you buy any OEM rim, 17 or 18 max, with a large non RFT sidewall and maybe then you will be lucky. Otherwise just go with aftermarket. I can't imagine CSL reps to be worse than OEM.

The super stiff sidewall of RFT's do not allow for any give when going over bumps, so definitely hurt the wheels more. From what I observe, only BMW's 17" wheels with RFT's have not suffered from cracking. Clearly 18" and 19" + a RFT causes too much stress.

Just yesterday I got some new tyres and the tyre fitter told me taking RFT's off the wheel felt like he was taking concrete off of it! Says it all really.

last time i had my car up for an oil change, I inspected every single wheel for cracks. Luckily found none, and really hoping I dont crack em either.

I bent two of my rims (style 243) within the first month of having my car. That included putting monster sized sidewalk bulges in those RFTs as well. Replaced one of the rims. Put the other bent one on the rear. Don't feel too much vibration, but for the cost of a new rim and two new tires, I'll be getting something aftermarket when the next one goes. What a shame.

I think RF and cracked rims is a BS. My OEM 124 cracked 2 times (the same rim) on winter tires. Chicago roads do not help, but I think it is the rims. I will go to the dealership to see if it can be covered under maintenance or warranty (AFAIK if the rim is not bent it should be covered).
