Default Dear 2006 BMW 530i (N52) owners:

Dear 2006 BMW 530i (N52 engine) owners:

I am having a hard time finding the right OEM cable harness (part #12517556871) for my car. I really hope you can help me out!

After ordering two cable harnesses for me, Mike from www.bmwmercedesparts.com is telling me both cable harnesses have "one plug" for the "two vanos solenoids". From my visual and physical inspections, I think I see "two plugs for two vanos solenoids" for the cable harness on my car. Can you please check your car for me and tell me what you see?

Also, on the front (driver's side) of the engine where the sensor is located, my cable has a "three connector plug". The new one that I order has "two connector plug". How am I suppose to get them to connect?

My car was built on 03/2005. According to the Dealer where I bought it, they said it was the first model (N52) that came with the engine horse power upgrade. Could that be the reason why there might be another part number for the cable harness that I need??? My VIN is WBANE73586CM30564.

From the tag on the harness, I have the following:

DRÄXLMAIER DLR:
BM 2 F052 102

Order-/Sach-Nr :
4493912 01
BAE24T

Masszeichnung:
4493913
BAE24T

Lieferantendaten:
17.02.05 10:36
65 84669 01218

Please see the attached pictures for further details.

Thank you in advance for any help I can get!

Daniel

I don't know if you can buy the cable as an assembly. You might have to buy the wire and connector separately.

Go to Penske Parts - Parts Catalog for BMW & Mini and select BMW Parts. If you enter in the last 7-digits of your VIN the site will show you parts for your car. Look in sections 12 and 61.

Thanks, Txag_530i.

I found another part number (12517566961) for that same part from your referenced website. Penske is selling it for $442 and www.bmwmercedeparts.com is selling it for $284. I am going for the cheaper route. :-)

For my sake, I hope it will have the right plugs for this expensive harness.

Update: Part #12517556871

BMW updated the harness cable. The plugs got switched around. Attached are the pictures with labels (unconfirmed) for anyone who might need it one day. I should be receiving my harness within the next five business days.

Thanks for playing. :-)

Dan, thanks for the info (harness update).

Hopefully harness replacement gets rid of that error.

Hey Pcy,

Hope all is well with you!

The error comes up 25% less after I replaced it with better, thicker (less melting) and higher gauge (22-18) heat shrink butt connectors. I think it pops up because the wires have gotten "shorter" due to cutting and fixing them too many times. I have a good feeling that the new harness will get rid of it once and for all.

My next update should say: "My engine now runs as smooth as glass." :-)

Okay, I finally replaced the cable harness today with a brand new BWM OEM part. With that said, SES still pops up as the car idle down after I start the engine. Do you think replacing all six ignition coils will fix my problem? SES keeps telling me cylinder #4 has a misfire!

Fuel injector #4 was replaced a few months ago because I thought it would fix the same annoying SES upon starting engine. I have tried swapping spark plugs and ignition coils around PRIOR to replacing the cable harness. Should I try swapping spark plugs and ignition coils again?

6-cylinder engine firing order is 1-5-3-6-2-4. If SES keeps telling me #4 has a misfire, how should I swap the coils or fuel injectors to find out what the problem is? What else can I do, guys?

Thanks,

Daniel

Default To which vanos

Hey guys,

My new updated cable harness looks a bit different than the one originally came with the car. Because of that, I am a bit fearful about whether they are connected correctly!

Attached is pictures of the new harness and the two vanos solenoids, can anyone with this same cable harness please tell me if the vanos plug in PIC1 goes to #1 or #2 of the vanos solenoids picture?

Thank you in advance for your help!

You can go here and find the wiring diagram and use an ohm meter to check which one is which. You'll have to navigate to the E60.

Thanks for the info, Twh.

But seriously, I wouldn't know how to find it that way if my life depends on it. lol

Are there any other 530i owner out there who can tell me (in leeming) if the plug goes to the top or bottom vanos solenoid? Pretty please??? :-)

Thanks,

Daniel
