So my car has been at VPC in NJ since Sunday. I emailed me salesman yesterday and asked for an update. He tells me he won't know when car leaves VPC, that they have no way of knowing and that he will only know when the car actually arrives at dealership.

Is he just being lazy? Shouldn't dealership be able to know what cars are being delivered from VPC? Am I just paranoid because I am driving a rental (stratus)?

I think it's a combination of the Stratus and severe anticipation...

The closer it gets to delivery time, the harder it is to not go nuts -- I'm not 100% sure but I do think that there is a point when the car pretty much shows up at the dealer a few days after leaving the VPC.

Hang in there dude, it'll be in your hands before you know it (then you'll post the customary "I got it" message here, and then we won't hear from you for days while you live in the car...) (See also: "Universal E60.net delivery pattern")

Probably not the dealer being lazy. I remember checking the website for my car about a year ago when I knew it had made it ashore. That update (and I'm assuming the dealer has no better information) was still showing en-route a few days after it had arrived at the dealership.

Supposively the dealership has more updated information then online or BMWNA - i've read that in this forum. Everyone always says to call your dealer for updates as online is way outdated.

You would think they would be able to track when a car has finished being prepped by VPC and is being loaded on a truck.

Yeah that Sratus is killing me; but for once I can be a total pig in my car.

Isn't OC showing an ETA for delivery? I have May 3rd when I look. I know it may be off by a few days but it's something.

The dealers can give you an idea, but they probably can't give you an exact date. You gotta remember the volume of cars that are coming through the VPC in NJ. It's amazing that BMW can process the gargantuan volume of cars in a short (which may seem long to you) amount of time. Just like Rudy said, it'll be here before you know it. Until then... stick around the forums and search out to whatever your heart contents, you may learn a few things or two.

Your dealer is lazy, I knew exactly when my car was leaving VPC 5 days ahead of time and I had the M-Aero kit installed there. Make up a story telling him your planning a trip and need to know when the car is arriving. Good Luck

That is what I was worried about; recall how they found out the status? Did dealer have to make a call?

Imola - where does it give you an estimated delivery date in OC?
