Might be a US-Spec issue.

I bet if we cry loud enough, we should be able to get the s/w to do this. Personally, I like DRLs and would like them turned on in my 545i. We'll see what the dealer says when I pick up the car....in 6-8 weeks.... :'(

You just need to tell your dealer to activate them before you take delivery. You'll be good to go.

I do agree that in countries where DRL use is optional, we should be given an option in iDrive like the one KYRIACOS posted. That said, I doubt I'd ever turn mine on...

Well, via the I-Drive, BMW has really given us a lot of ways to customize our cars...I think the DRL option for the US should be there, too! However, I do need to go to the dealer to retrieve my car when it gets here so it is a simple matter to ask them to turn them on and I'll be all set.

US cars have Daytime Running Lights.... it's called the auto light sensor that doesn't work right, so your headlights come on a 3 PM.

So do you get the DRL option in idrive with the latest SW, or is this just a euro thing.

I've been meaning to have my DRLs shut off by the dealer, but this would be much more convenient.

Well, my car is US Spec...built early March...I just got back from ED...and I did not have any mention below the quickflash menu line of a drl option. It wasn't that it was greyed out...it simply didn't exist.

I wonder why the U.S. doesn't get this option.

Or when it is cloudy or you are parked in the shade.

Hey that would be cool if I can control the DRLs in the iDrive with SW update!
