You don't have to get a software upgrade to turn them on. The dealer will program it for you but there's a charge. Then again, I heard of others who got their dealers to do it for free.

You know what would of been great...one of those ON/OFF switches. I really do love this car, but you have got to ask WTF? on occasion!

On a recent road trip to FL I noticed several 05/06 525's with their driving lights on. Why can I get mine to come on. Book says to put the light switch in the Auto position, then they'll work...not mine! What am I doing wrong?
I think your dealer will do this for free.

The only reason you do not have a menu in i-drive to disable / enable DLR is that in the USA they should always be enabled.

On that basis, if yours are not, your dealer has dropped a clanger and should sort it out for free.

Good luck.

sixgun, there really are way more important things to worry about than a DRL switch. (Again, as I mentioned before, I think it's Canada's fault! )

All kidding aside, I'm curious how you would use the lights if you were able to control them manually -- would you usually leave them on or off? Under what circumstances would you change them from whatever the default setting was?

Many of us choose to have them turned off at the dealer on delivery but manually turn the parking lights (angel eyes) on or off as we see fit. In my opinion, that gives you full control over what's going on and it makes the car look way cooler than it would if the DRLs were activated...
