Track day has come and gone. It was held at the Talladega Grand Prix, which is about 30 minutes from Talladega Super Speedway. The track is a 1.4 mile road course.

It was a a private event that I got invited to held by the local porsche club. Only 9 cars/ people were invited, and 2 of those were me and my wife.
Some pretty sweet cars attended- two track prepped E36 M3's, three 944 turbo race cars, a heavily modded C6 ZR1(which was bad ass), a ZO6 race car(which was also bad ass), and then of course my 550 The best part was only 3 cars were allowed out on the track at a time, and each session was 20 minutes long. It was such a relaxed atmosphere though, we got there at 7 am and had the track till 4pm so no one was in a huge hurry to get out there.....except for me and the wife. There were several sessions where it was just me out on the track..lol
Between my wife and I, we abused the crap out of the car. We switched off and were out on the track all day. We burned through 18 gallons of gas before lunch...lol My wife has tracked the car before, but it was the first for me in it. That car handles like a dream on the track, especially for it to be bone stock. Very well balanced and goes where you want it to go. With stability control on and traction control off, it was a whole lot of fun to say the least.
Anyway, here are some of the pics I took.

It was a blast.....I was hitting 110 on the straights. The front RFT's are pretty much toast. It's a good excuse to get new tires(and wheels). You can see here how hard we were on the brakes....brake dust was caked on baked on pretty good.
I think I may send these pics to Griots- maybe they'll put them in their catalog

No job too tough....this stuff works great. Brake dust just melted off

All pretty again
