Long time lurker, great forum.

I did a search and found a few people have this issue but could not find any reference to a solution.
I have a 2004 545. Date and trip odometer started resetting to ---- a few weeks ago.
Dealer replaced the battery (which I guess is due anyway) and checked for any faults.
Picked up the car and of course, the following morning had the same issue.
Curious if anyone has had success with this.
Thanks

My 08 550 is doing this also. Several other hic-ups. The distance bars on the ACC go blank, frequently. The active steering, "initializes" often.

I have an appointment with the dealer in the morning. Will report on the results. If any.

FYI - back to the dealer this morning and they are replacing my instrument cluster under warranty. Seems drastic but hopefully this does the trick and they don't create any rattles in the process of ripping apart the dash. I was hoping to ride it out for a few years and wait for the F10 but its getting easier by the day to convince myself to get something new.

Thanks great group of people here. My car has only 45,000 miles.

Picked the car up this morning and everything looks fixed (so far). Apparently the instrument cluster replacement would have cost $3,000 (CAD$) if it were not covered under the certified series warranty.

the cluster comes off in under 30secs - don't worry no rattles !

imo, it's a bit drastic to say you wanna change cars due to this - you're car is good - keep it like you plan !

a cluster costs like $600

My E60,with similar issues, is back from dealer. All they did was to update to CIP 28.2. So far everything looks OK, however not fully verified.
