On my second 535d.....
have read various threads on these forums in connection with rattles and squeeks.......but no defintive answers...
Completely free of any strange noises etc until now 4 months on and 5000 miles into LCI
Light rattle noise triggered by uneven road surface or bumps
Noise suggests plastic or trim issue rather than metallic /mechanical movement involved.
Appears to come from centre dash area by vents ?/ behind Display ? / Windscreen edge ?
When car is warm / hot - the rattle will just about dissappear - suggesting plastic or other materials expanding or moving with heat resolves the problem.
Can I remove i-drive display or access area behind dash to see if anything is loose.....
LOGIC 7 turned up sort of solves the problem but now beginning to irritate me......and if it is something simple would prefer not to let dealer start ripping bits apart.

I had a similar annoying rattle, that seemed to emanate from near the dash-center. For awhile I imagined it was associated with or behind the iDrive display. It turned out to be the plastic housing under/behind the center rear view mirror where the rain sensor etc. is.
Good luck,
Cal

If it's under warranty, then take it to the dealer....it's THEIR problem, not yours!

i had a similar symptom ie, would go when warm turned out to be the dash top just touching the inside of the windscreen when cold in the centre area just enough to make a noise.
Perhaps try a tempory spacer between the dash front edge and screen to see if the noise changes or goes away.
I used a thin strip of rubber matting which if carefully done isnt visible and that cured my prob.

Had this on my 550. There is a known problem with a loose strut under hood. Been discussed in previous threads. Do a search as there is an SIB on this.

Yeah have a similar rattle at times but if you hold the rain sensor behind the mirror it stops
Fell like a bit of a prat now as I was locked on to this noise around the dashboard / windscreen area.
I guess this is a blunt reminder that noises don't always originate from where the noise "appears to come from".
I think i've read that somewhere else on these forums....
Thanks to all who replied on this one.......
