Dash CD not responding

My Ride: 2006 530d, Silver, Pro Sat Nav, Logic 7, 6CD, Black Dakota Memory Seats with heating, Adaptive Xenons, Active Steering with Sports steering wheel, Oscillating Seats, Rear Electric Blind, Rear side blinds, Rear airbags, Dark Popular High Gloss, Folding Auto Dimming Mirrors, High Gloss Shadowline,
It taks the disc in but will not work at all.
The CDC works fine, the DVD works fine too, its just the dash CD player.
Recently the steering wheel buttons and the I Drive stopped working occasionally.
The dealer says this is because the battery was low, which id say is crap as the idrive didnt work, and then 1 hr later worked fine.
Any one else had this problem?

i had that happen t me once that my dash cd would not work, plain brown i-drive screen.
ejected/inserted the cd a few times and read it like normal; wierd huh!

this happened to me as well, had my cd player completely freeze as well as my idrive. Turned the car off for 30min went back and all was fine. Hasnt happened since, but if its happening more than once Id say theres something faulty with your car.
The idrive periodically freezes, the dealers have now agreed to do a software upgrade and fit a new cd
Only after telling me that it was the battery first, the dealers really do take the pi$$ sometimes as it means more hassle dropping and picking the car up
