Sorry to hear that.

On my previous 330d I had my BMW dealer do a smart repair to the rear bumper - it was absolutely superb, and took 1 day, rather than 3-5 for the full bodyshop process, so it depends on the quality of the operation.

It was only a smallish area that needed repair though, about 20x20 cm. approx ?150 I think if it helps.
You can insist to your ins. co that you use an approved bodyshop to maintain the paint warranty.
Good luck sorting - post how you get on.

Thanks. I didnt think that such a post would get such comments about grammar. Fortuantley I quite like Americans, although clearly some have been to the Big Mac school of how to win freinds and influence people.

Try and get some recommendations locally and / or find out where some of Kent / SE London BM dealers have their cars repaired since most don't have their own bodyshops.
Uk Insurance companies allow for YOU the Insured - to nominate the repairer - they don't publicise this fact but thats not surprising as some have a cosy arrangement with their nearest bodyshop.

Your repair sounds like it may be OK for smart repair operator - there are some very good ones which again you should be able to find out through local dealers.

Good luck and hope your job is done well......

Well, i just of the perma-plate or whatever it's called, from my dealer the other day. It's a car bra for the front to protect from stone chips and such. If it gets damaged, I would like to think they just take the extra over coat off and replace it for free. I hope. We didn't pay 500 bucks for just that.

Let me rewrite this poor kid's post since he obviously suffered a horrible concussion prior to writing this....either that or he drives his car more than he attends English class in which case he will be serving us fries in a few years.

"I drove up to Duxford last weekend for Prom. The vehicle in front of me kicked up an unknown object which hit my bumper and caused damage. Do any of you have an idea what it would cost to repaint the front bumper? The car is 2 years old and my insurance company wants me to take it to a non-certified BMW body shop for repair. I do not trust these sort of shops after a bad expereince I had in the past. If you have any comments or suggestions I would be open to hearing them."

Thank you.
I find this response completely uncalled for and rude. This is an international forum where even native English speakers are more than lax at times (e.g., no capital letters, textspeak (lol, imho), etc.), myself included. In addition, there are many dialect variations even among English-speaking countries. I thought the forum was supposed to be a non-judgemental exchange of ideas and advice, not a grammar class. BTW, I spotted at least three errors in your rewrite, so you may want to be careful when throwing stones.

+1...

to the OP, sorry to hear about the damage. Some pics might help as well just to see size and depth of the damage. Hope you get things resolved, at least some members have replied with more than just criticism...(I know I haven't really provided much insight either...)

I disagree, I was a little confused as to what had happened and try to pride myself
on having at least a general knowledge of some of the main European languages
(German, French, Italian). I think it could have been written a little kinder but Howitzer
did clarify the issue so it was easier to understand for some of us.
