D1S or D2S?

I see that now. It appears (lightbulbs4cars.com) that BMW started specifying D1S for cars at year 2008. Previous to that the bulbs used were D2S. That still doesn't explain why the shrouds show D2S but the bulbs are D1S, unless BMW just didn't bother to change the shroud mark.

I looked online and powerbulbs.com also specified D2S. And the igniters aren't cheap either if I kept the D2S bulbs.

At some point the lights were changed to D2S, this isn't something particular to your car. even realoem.com lists both D2S and D1S bulbs (i have D1S bulbs right now, original BMW, even though the cowl says D2S).
