Sorry, cause my very bad english, I cannot understand the meaning when I read the word "debadged" applied to our E60.
I search on dictionary but I only found: to debag (take off pants ) that does not apply.
I search for badge with a lot of meaning not applying IMHO, can someone tell me the meaning ?
Thank you in advance

It just means removing the model identity from the rear of the car

Yeah, like removing "525i" or the BMW symbol.

I think the curiosity of other drivers about a debadged car may be a disadvantage at times. I have had worrisome drivers on the Interstates make a slow pass after following for a good while, then slow down so I either have to slow or pass them. I know that there may be other explanations for this aggravating behavior, but believe that part of the time the other driver or passenger is just wanting a look at the grill or wheels to help ID the model.

If you have a 545i, you're not likely to want to debadge it.

Some 520i drivers might want to, and a few diesel drivers. As it might fool someone into thinking it's better than that.

Makes no difference to me. In fact, if I see a debaged car I just think it must be a poverty spec small engined car.

The salesman told me about the new diesels being EuroIV, and therefore the exhausts aren't turned down. So debadged, they look like they might be a petrol engined car. Not of interest to me, as I want a sign that says "YOU HAVE JUST BEEN PASSED BY A DIESEL"

Well, I debadged my 530D 'cos I think it looks cleaner and doesn't shout out that "my engine's bigger than yours"!! lol But what about those sad gits who replace their badges with "M" stuff - sad or what!

My car comes standard with "M" badges from BMW. I have no intention removing them because some people think the car "isn't worthy".

But similarly, I'm certainly not going to add a "M5" badge to something that is NOT a M5.

What you mean? the badge? or like with parts? M wheels.. M front air dam? Side skirts? side mirrors?

I think if someone changes all the parts and debadges it to try and fool someone that its a M5 then its a no no but if they keep their 525 badge then its ok, it doesnt bother me. I got a guy at work that did that with his E39... changed almsot everything besides the exhaust... Makes me look everytime... and think... thats no M5... LOL

I do want the M Sports Pack Front Grill... but dont want the mirrors or the rear and side skirts nor the M5 badge...
