Anyone know of a good place to fix road rash on wheels in the north suburbs of Chicago?

I have been so careful until today. Trying to get the car as close to the curb and not having it stick out into traffic I overdid it and touched wheel to the curb. ouch. Looks like crap.

Fields BMW in Northfield does curb rash touchup. I purchased my car there and their service is excellent.

that sucks man.. wow 2nd member in the same day this has happened to. what i said on the other thread was that its a possibility that your dealer may offer some wheel repairs. other than that, check with a local tire shop. this incident happened with me before and my friend went with me to the tire shop where he knew the owner. they sent out one wheel at a time to be repaired. the time it took was 1 day per wheel. when they were put back on my e60, looked good as new. good luck with the wheels and be careful with curbs.

I contacted my dealer, Knauz. They send them out and it takes 3 days. Then I found a place that does them in 24 hours. I may just go there.

Thanks,

Sorry for your rash!

But it can also happen on a secure BMW Club track happening overhere.

Ouch. Nothing worse than curbing those beauties.

Knauz will outsource them to a good place - you should try that.

I had Fields do my old M Par wheels before and it cost about $100. More recently I had my tire store send out a 166 wheel to repaint and it was $235! I was told the paint process is more complicated for the 166 wheels. Gulp. Ask Knauz how much first.

Over here in the UK, I just got a couple of mine repaired at the local dealer for ?40+tax, so roughly speaking under $100 per wheel. They did a nice job and took less than half a day.

This might not be an option for you but you can ship your wheel to North Hollywood. The company is Tru Wheel. These guys do excellent work and accept shipments. It's a big part of their business. Here is the Web site.
