I broke my cup holder when I was drunk. Trying to get from the driver side to the passenger side because I parrelled park on busy street. Kneed the sucker and broke off, need to get it fixed.
What were you doing parallel parking while drunk?
Shame on you...

When I drive drunk, I drive like there's 2 dead guys and 20 lbs of weed in the trunk.

My friends tell me I'm crazy good driving drunk. Very normal/super alert.

I still will never drive drunk again. I was stupid, but I couldn't let my gf drive the e60.

They are the same ABC - as you say another money-saving exercise. BTW the same goes for the engine start button, it is on the right of the steering wheel whether it is a LHD or RHD. Lexus on the other hand relocate its start button to be on the left side of the steering wheel for the UK market.
Are you saying that on RHD cars, the driver's cupholder opens and extends away from the driver??!! WTF??

Erm, sorry, but they are not. The part numbers are different. What is the same is the design and layout: both on passenger side, with the driver's holder extending towards the driver just far enough to cause an accident when one attempts to reach for the drink. They do work a treat for baby milk bottles, though.

I kind of suspected they are crap but come on.... I don't have any so they would still be an improvement!
The question -whether it's possible- is still open...
(ps. world's best cupholders are in chevy tahoe (<2006))
Based on ETK (BMW parts system) and RealOEM it's not simple. They list different parts for the dashboard depending on whether you have the blasted objects or not.

It's possibly just a case of cutting a slot in the panel (I can't think what else would be different), but whether you want to shell out $250+ (cost of cupholders + holders + trim) for the privilege of finding out, it's up to you.

if it's only $250, I'd get it. but the dealer was saying something like the dash components behind the panel are totally different, so I'd need an entire dashboard or something

the huge Sprite-stain on the passenger side floor mat always reminds me how important cupholders are

Sorry - I should have been clearer. The dashboard (the whole lot - supporting instrument binnacle, iDrive screen/air con/cd/radio/nav and glove box, from driver to passenger door) is marked as a different part. It's all one moulding.

As I said, I can't see what could be different other than having a cut, as there does not seem to be a difference in what's behind it (a steel bar), but how easy it would be to cut correctly and/or whether it has a bracket moulded into it to hold the cupholders, I cannot tell.

Floor mats + dry cleaners are almost definitely cheaper, though.

Buzz,

You need to improve your lot of friends as the current group is as dumb as you are. That you are "crazy good driving drunk" is "drunk's logic" which is oxymoronic.

Hate to flame anyone on this board but you earned it.
