I took the car to the dealer for rear brake check and "Data transmission fault" warning.
Also told them that the cup holders are "malfunctioning "
-Ended up with rear brake pads replaced (idrive says 7000 miles)
-New cupholders installed. Operates better and seems stronger than previous holders .
-engine and tranny oil topped off.
-headlight plastic bracket (cracked) replaced.
Off-topic Qs: Has anyone paid to get warranty extended? For how much? I have 41K mi. already in approx. 2 years of ownership.
Is it worth the money?

Basicly if you are not going to extend the warranty, then take it for a servies and fix what every you have that don`t work before the warranty runs out.
How much is it for a year of warranty extended?

I didn't even ask the cost to extend warranty when the SA recommended it. I never buy extended warranty, I just want to know how forum members feel about it.
Back to topic. I found out about the new and improved e60 cupholders from a friend of mine who is not a forum member. I just thought I'd share this with you guys.

Ya there are new cup holders. its been posted here.
As for extended warranty. it might be worth it if your car has been problematic.
Make sure you ask whats NOT covered rather than what is covered... a lot of these extended warranty dont cover a lot of stuff since they are thrid party exteded warranties not OEM BMW ones. Even some BMW ones dont cover certain stuff like Progman Updates. (iDrive CIP updates)
And for sure it wont cover brakes... brakes are not part of warranty but is under full maintence. theres a separate extended maintence plan you can buy.
So just make sure you know what you're buying before you buy.
As for price... I've ask before. I was told $3200 but talked it down to $2800 which i still think is expensive for 2 extra years since I do not put that many miles on the car. Plus mine has been very reliable *knock on wood* so I didnt get it.

Thanks
Which transmission? Should you need oil at only 41K?
As far as the extended warranty, I usually steer clear of something like that. But in the case of the absurdly complex and expensive 545, it would be something worth considering.
